What's it like to sell for companies such as Avon, Mary Kay, and Tupperware?
I would like to know how much work really goes into it, and how much money you really can make. I am hoping to sell for one or two companies and make an extra few hundred every month, without spending too much time. I would like to be able to do it all in a like five hours a week or so. Am I being realistic?
I think 5 hours a week is very realistic. That would be about 1-2 parties a week. 2 parties a week with Tupperware, averages out to about $1100 in commission a month.
A couple of things to check when you are selecting a company:
1. Start Up cost and what you actually get for it - for example a kit valued at $500 for only $150.
2. Selling requirements - Some companies have monthly requirements, and if you don't make those requirements there are penalties such as paying back the value of the kit.
3. How you are allowed to sell - Can you do parties, catalog orders, fundraisers, craft fairs, etc? The more options you have the more potential money you can make.
4. Do you have to carry stock? - I know of one company that requires you to buy stock in order to remain active. Very scary to invest so much.
5. Cost of supplies - It is great if a company has a low start-up cost, but if you are buying new catalogs every two weeks, you are still putting out the money.
6. Training requirements - How many meetings do you have to attend? There is one company that will only let their consultants purchase catalogs and order forms if they attend a meeting.
