Is IV-7 Ultimate Germ Defense™ a scam…well my wife and I certainly had to find out.  As parents of three small children and a self proclaimed germ-a-fob… we are all about a product that will kill the yuckiest of germs within as little as 30 seconds. So we researched and this is what we learned and its quite a bit, so don't skip around or skim this article, you need to read it in its entirety to get the full picture.

Ok, so here we go…we must start at the beginning and follow the trail.

Richmont Holdings is the company that owns the rights to distribute IV-7.  The Founder and Chairman is John P. Rochon.  You might ask, why is this important and why would I care?  I'm glad you asked.  Here's why:

John Rochon is founder and chairman of Richmont Holdings. Mr. Rochon is a veteran of more than three decades of successful leadership in finance, marketing, sales and operations. After spending the early part of his career working for Chesebrough-Ponds (Unilever) and Ecolab International, he joined Mary Kay Inc. in 1980. In 1984, he became chief financial officer.

Mr. Rochon was the architect of Mary Kay's management-led leveraged buyout in 1985, arranging the financing and executing the transaction. That LBO is regarded as one of the most successful in business history. During the following 16 years, the company's retail revenue grew from $500 million to almost $3 billion and Mary Kay became the world's best-selling brand of skin care & color cosmetics. Mr. Rochon became vice chairman in 1987 and chairman and CEO in 1991.

With Mr. Rochon as its General Partner, Richmont Capital Partners became the largest shareholder in Avon Products, Inc., which subsequently experienced tremendous growth.

This information solidifies that Richmont Holdings has the infrastructure and skills to support IV-7 Direct.  And I'm sure just like us you are saying to yourself, "that's good to know, but what about the product and the company's claims of what it can do."

As we continued our research we found that IV-7 Direct claims to be a revolutionary product, claims to have legitimacy of the government and patent protection, and expandable product line, perfect timing etc…

Upon further research we did find the company's EPA Registration No., which is, 72977-3. Now when we found this information it was registered under the company PURE Bioscience who is the manufacturer of this product and future products to come for the IV-7 Direct products line.

Ok….so the EPA registration checked out which makes it rather difficult to say this is a scam.  I mean the government has given its seal of approval and it's been 30 years since the EPA has approved a germ disinfectant to go to the market place.

IV-7 Direct says their mission is simple: "Living Safely. Saving Lives."

IV-7 Direct says they are more than just a "green" product:

IV-7 Ultimate Germ Defense is made from naturally-occurring ingredients: ionized silver and citric acid (found in orange and lemon juice);

Because it is EPA "Category IV," it doesn't require hazard warnings like bleach or alcohol;

But studies show most people think a "green" product doesn't work as well as other products;

We are emphasizing its power to protect – and its green attributes are a bonus

Why did the leaders of this company choose IV-7 as the name? We asked the same question and here is what we've learned.  The company leaders wanted a name that was interesting, unique, and could be an "umbrella" for additional products as well as the following:
